Vinyasa Flow yoga, yin yoga
A dancer at heart, Shelley spent over ten joyful years with Shawbrook school of dance in Co. Longford. In 2006 she completed her final grade 8 ballet exam with the Royal Irish Academy of Dance. Throughout her time in Shawbrook – an internationally recognised centre of excellence for dance- Shelley had the opportunity to be exposed to many dance styles such as ballet, contemporary and jazz.
Sport also played a big part in Shelley’s life. She enjoyed many years playing with Mullinalaghta ladies and Longford Ladies GAA. Her love of dance and interest in wellbeing naturally drew her to yoga. She enjoyed practising various styles over the years, appreciating how it echoed the focus, balance, strength and freedom of expression she also loved in dance. Shelley found herself exploring the philosophy of yoga more deeply before completing her 200hrs teacher training with BeWell in 2020. Shelley is passionate about the positive benefits of yoga both on and off the mat!

Shelley enjoys teaching a dynamic vinyasa style class that builds energy through each movement, embracing creativity in the sequencing of postures, often enjoying this to a backdrop of some music! Her classes focus on fluidly connecting each movement in the practise to create a mindful movement flow. She loves teaching classes that work on specific muscle groups and sequencing the class to target these areas. Her classes are a blend of warm and energising movements to stretch, strengthen and lengthen the body, balanced with calming and restorative postures to bring ease and comfort to both the mind and body.

Shelley feels like yin is something that everyone needs to experience! In her class expect slow and restorative style yoga where postures are held for longer periods of time, really working deep into the muscles and connective tissue to leave you feeling deep in a state of relaxation. Yin allows us to still the body and let go of any stresses that we may be holding on to. Shelley’s class helps bring us into the present moment and focus our attention on the here and now. In an ever-busy environment this is a wonderful way to slow down and practise some self-compassion.
